Scope and Content This engraving is copied from plate XV of John Britton’s The Architectural Antiquities of Great Britain Volume III, London, 1812. In contrast to original print, the figure of Sir Walter Scott has been added to the view, placed between the Prentice Pillar and the stairs descending to the crypt in the south east corner of the chapel’s interior. The placement of the pillar has been altered to accommodate the figure. A note by John Britton beneath the engraving reads “Copied from a print in Britton’s Architectural Antiquities without permission”.
