Archaeology Notes

NS53NW 48 5402 3724

This typical group of single-storeyed buildings comprising an Irvine Valley hosiery works, is still producing lace products, and is owned by M H Wilson (Lace) Ltd. The buildings are mostly North-lit sheds with slate roofs, built from yellow Ayrshire fireclay brick, and a round-section boilerhouse chimney. An exception to this pattern is the glazed polychrome brick face on the E side, fronting onto Union Street.
