Insc: (first page) 'PARKINS/GOTTO' (1887-1891) Album of professional prints by G.W.Wilson and J.Valentine plus snapshots of the Southern Mediterranean, Germany, Paris, Isle of Wight and castles, bridges, towns of Scotland, including Shetland, Orkney, Pittenweem, St Monans and Drummond Castle from the gardens. There is a photograph of the SS Patua ?; a group in the Consul's garden Shanghai showing five European men and one woman with four Chinese people, probably servants; Dr Palin, Frances and Fergus with horses; and several tennis parties, at Mrs Kennedy's, 1887 and at St Leonards, 1891. c. 1876 Batch Level

Inscribed inside in ink: 'Susan M Freer October 1910'. A collection of postcards, photographs and pages from theatre programmes with hand written titles and dates between 1900 and 1917. Contains photographs of Fordel Villa, Melrose, the Freer family's home for at least thirty years before this, and also shown are Spring Hill, St Baldred's Church (and Rev Gill) and Marly Knowe (Old Abbey Road) all North Berwick; Crichton House, Mountainhall 1909/10 and 1 Albany 1913 both Dumfries; Bangour Village station 1912; Ash Bank, Kippford 1913 and the garden of Balgonie, Colinton 1914. There are snapshots of Polly, Boodles, G and C Wade and Dorothy's wedding, 1903 and Bobby's birthday party 19 July 1910 at Liberton; Teddy Davies (3) and Ellen Davies (4); KW McEwen (2) is shown alongside a birth notice reading: "McEwen at St Vincent, Cape Verde Islands on 9th inst. Wife of FA McEwen, a daughter". A group of women at St Andrews is captioned Girls' Diocesan Week 1915. 1910 Batch Level

Album of amateur photographs, some from the 1860's, of Linlithgow, bridges, castles, topography and family prints, art reproductions. Includes a large unidentified family group with grandparents, five other adults and 11 children; Horace Bridge on the Arniston Estate; other portraits including a fisherman; a sailor wearing a jersey marked "RCYC" and "SY Katinka", with a bird; pontoon buildings at Hog's Island near Bombay with coolie workers, and BJSDN Co's "SS BENBA"; Portobello beach with bathing machines, crowds and donkeys. All Other PA 138 Photograph Album No 138: COUNTRY HOUSE PARTIES ALBUM Dark morocco-bound hard-backed album with gold tooled covers and monogram on front (?MDS) with blue and white marbled end papers and 100 thick cream paper pages. 72 of the pages used for signatures, souvenir water-colours, drawings, photographs etc. - many including a photograph of the house party venue - dated from 1899 to 1912. Most of the locations are Aberdeenshire, but the house-parties were held in houses in England (Shoreham Park, Norwich) Ireland (Stradbally Hall, Queen's County) as well as Scottish houses and castles including Fyvie, Udny and Cluny castles; Dochfour; Monymusk; Gledfield, Ardgay; Aden House; Durris House; Fasque; Inshewan, Forfar; Glenkindie; Fintray House; Ballindarroch; Scaniport, Inverness; The Lee, Lanark; Ballogie, Springkell and others. Signatures of those present are too numerous to list but include the surnames of Forbes-Leith, Gordon, Duff, Hill-Whitson, McLean, Udny, Murray-Graham, Lockhart, Cosby, Young, Sinclair, Guiness and many more, and some otf them appear in the photographs beside views of the houses. Buildings and topography of Perthshire, Banffshire and Eigg, taken on three holiday tours in 1908, 1909 and 1913. Many views are dated and accompanied by short inscriptions. Other photographs show an elephant being led through the streets at Ballinluig; the cottage where Alexander Mackenzie, Premier of Canada was born at Logierait, and there are views of Grandtully, Castle Menzies, Dull, Weem, Fortingall and Kenmore; Hog Hill at Loch Tay where Dr. Macdonald preached during the revival; Lady of Lawers Church; Croft Moraig; the well at Fincastle and Glen Tilt Hotel.
