Includes snapshots of family groups taken at Kinaldy House, and Fettes College cricket matches and O.T.C. around 1914-16. There is a view of Edenhall. A faded snap shows the 3/7th Royal Scots officers' tents at Peebles in September 1915, and another is of B Co's officers' hut at the Candle Works, Kinghorn in November 1915. Richly coloured end papers and 23 stiff card pages, each side holding one pasted-on photograph, all captioned and dated 1890; most of the subjects are people and places in and around Barrhead, some pages foxed. Contains views including Barshagru House at Gateside 1890, Barrhead cattle show, Carswell House, Netherton Farm House, Mearnskirk Old Schoolhouse, gravestones in Mearns Kirk graveyard, Stewarton grainmill, Bonshaw Farmhouse and the Misses Reid and a group of Bank of Scotland, Glassford Street, staff, all taken in 1890. 7/4/1890 Batch Level

Label on inside cover: Thomas Smail Bookseller, Stationer, Printer & Bookbinder Jedburgh. The 50 gilt-edged card pages are all filled on both sides with mainly professional photographs of Jedburgh buildings and nearby scenery and great houses. Included are views of Linthaugh; the parish church, interior and exterior; Wildcat Gate; Bankend, residence of Thomas Davidson, "The Scottish Probationer"; Hartrigge House; St Johns; Town Stead; Nist Steading; Ferniehurst; Timpendean Castle surrounded by trees; Ancrum House; Mounteviot including ancillary buildings and the interior of the dairy, and Harestanes. There are photographs of Jedburgh bicycle games (penny farthings) 1881 and of the Jedburgh Picnic 1886. Also included are T Smail's shop at 16 High Street, Jedburgh, next door to James Gray, Brewer & Maltster's pend with Thomas Smail himself and Gray's staff and dog posed outside the building which is covered with flower pots and baskets. There is also a river view, probably on the Teviot below Fatlips, which shows Thomas Smail, fishing. Views are included form further afield right down to Berwick harbour with sailing ships. All Other PA 255 A family photograph album, dating between c.1910 and c.1920. Subjects include tours on the Continent, an unidentified house, possibly in Ireland, Fountains Abbey, family events and portraits of men on service in the Great War. One photograph shows General William Booth (1829-1912). Several photographs relate to the Earlsferry and Elie area, Fife, including Ogilvie House, Elie Lighthouse, Lady's Tower, Saucher Point, and naval and other ships in the Firth of Forth. The photographs of Ogilvie House are of particular interest in recording garden features including a gazebo and a shell-encrusted planter or bird-bath. c. 1910 Batch Level

The spine, back and front covers have tooled gold lines and the front is similarly titled 'Photographs'. Both sides of each page have two photographic reproductions pasted on, of uniform size and format, all titled on the print. Towards the end of the volume are pictures of the Isle of Man but most of the subjects are well-known Scottish places, Probably c1900. c. 1900 Batch Level
All Other PA 217 PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM NO 217 : FORT AUGUSTUS ALBUM Green cloth covered hard-backed album with black lines and decorative motif impressed on the front; the back strip is missing. Inside the front cover is the book-plate of the Abbey of St. Benedict and inside the back an engraved label "Marlborough's Plain Series no 4" . The endpapers are yellow. Many of the 36 card pages are loose, especially at the front. They contain professional photographs of famous buildings and sites in Europe, most of them ecclesiastical, probably taken in the late 19th century - the latest date given is 1886 and an inscription refers to mass at Iona in 1888. c. 1864 Batch Level

All Other PA 214 Photograph Album No 214 : THE SCRAPBOOK ALBUM Red hard-backed album, the back embossed with a central pattern and "51", the front fully embossed and coloured, titled "Album" in a setting of thistles, roses and shamrocks. A label inside the front cover reads "Trade mark, William Whiteley, Universal Provider, Westbourne Grove, London W." All but the last of the 36 off-white card pages are filled with professional photographs of famous places in Europe and Australia. These are pasted in and around the edges of the first 17 pages are coloured scraps as well as a few pressed leaves. Batch Level
