Invergordon Distillery was founded in 1959 by Invergordon Distillers Ltd; in 1965 the same company built the Ben Wyvis Distillery within the same complex.

This grain distillery was founded in 1959 by Invegordon Distillers Ltd., it started with one Coffey Still in 1961, with two more added in 1963. In 1978 a larger Coffey still, to enable the production of neutral spirit, was installed. Also contains a dark grains plant.

Field Visit (2015)
Invergordon Distillery has been owned by the Whyte and Mackay group since 1993. Invergordon 'single grain' whisky was launched 1990. The Ben Wyvis Distillery (a second incarnation for this distillery name) was also contained within the complex, but this was shut by 1981.
