Scope and Content This is a close view of the eastern section of the Royal Navy Port Fuel Depot in Invergordon. The first tanks were installed c1913 and they were used during WW1 and WW2. The area has many sites associated with naval activity during both wars. The photograph also shows the officers' housing on the road running along the coast at top left, the slipway and part of Saltburn Pier which was constructed to serve the now defunct aluminium works. The distillery buildings can be seen at bottom left. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
