NS 0695 5902 Site 47 Greenwood Smithy
Immediately south of the junction of the Ambrisbeg cottage track with the main road, is the site of a house known as Greenwood, demolished c1950, which replaced an older smithy on the site, sometimes known as Ambrisbeg smithy. A painting of the smithy hangs in the Bute museum.

All that is now visible of Greenwood Smithy is the concrete floor of a building in the NE corner of a field of rough pasture 200m SE of Ambrisbeg farmsteading. The smithy is depicted roofed on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Buteshire 1869, sheet CCXV; 1897 Sheet CCXV.NW).
Several fruit trees and bushes are visible in the former garden to the S of the building.
