Field Visit (7 May 2009)

NS05NE 49 06967 59028

All that is now visible of Greenwood Smithy is the concrete floor of a building in the NE corner of a field of rough pasture 200m SE of Ambrisbeg farmsteading. The smithy is depicted roofed on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Buteshire 1869, sheet CCXV; 1897 Sheet CCXV.NW).

Several fruit trees and bushes are visible in the former garden to the S of the building.

Visited by RCAHMS (AGCH) 7 May 2009.
