(Undated) information in CUCAP card index.

(Location cited as NO 7133 7210: nominated as Site of Regional Significance). Air photography (CUCAP VZ 74, flown 31 July 1957 and AAS/78/02/S2/21, flown 28 July 1978) has recorded the cropmarks of a square enclosure and a possible arc of ditch on a gentle slope at an altitude of 65m OD.

NMRS, MS/712/35.

NO 714 720 In May 2000 an area of rig and furrow was excavated and recorded in advance of a proposed housing development. Excavation of trenches revealed the remains of medieval rig and furrow cultivation initially identified from aerial photographs. Furrows that had been cut into the natural till were recorded and sampled. No further investigation of the area of rig and furrow on the development site will be required.

Watching Brief (30 May 2018 - 31 May 2018)

NO 71348 72084 A watching brief was undertaken, 30–31

May 2018, during topsoil stripping for a new road to

seven housing plots. Rig and furrow cultivation ridges

were recorded across the trench. No other features were

Watching Brief (30 October 2018 - 23 January 2020)

A watching brief of Plots 4, 5 and 7 was carried out on 30 October 2018 and on Plot 6 on 23 January 2020. Remains of furrows were recorded but no evidence of any other archaeological features (Illus 4). One fragment of burnt flint was recovered from the topsoil (spoil heap) but the only features recorded were furrows, stone drains and field drains. This completes the watching briefs for the plots owned by Medlock and Medlock and there is now just Plot 3 which is in private ownership.

Information from OASIS ID: camerona1-384397 (A Cameron) 2020
