Note (30 August 2013)

A possible engine house is located at the W end of a jetty, and behind and below the rock stack with a First World War searchlight emplacement (see NH86NW 9.05). The remains comprise a concrete base with a raised plinth for a possible engine with metal fixings still visible. The E end of the concrete base is being undercut by wave action.

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.

Field Visit (29 May 2019)

The remains of this engine house, which was associated the Fighting Light (WWI), are also described under the entry for the Searchlight Battery (NH86NW 9.05)
