SC 1967459

Description Aerial view of Garbeg prehistoric settlement and modern land use, near Drumnadrochit, Inverness-shire, looking NNE.

Date 29/2/1996

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1967459

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content The image shows Garbeg Farm with improved fields, and a modern plantation on the left. There is a relict landscape of clearance cairns, roundhouses, and a ruined kerb cairn in the rough ground above. The circular feature in the improved field is most likely a cattle feed ring mark, and does not appear on modern aerial photographs. The features are under partial snow cover and slightly out of focus. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
