Archaeology Notes

For (adjacent) Falkirk, Grahamston Station, see NS88SE 98.

(Location cited as NS 890 803 and name as Springfield Goods Yard). Built by the North British Rly. c. 1870. A fine example of a large late 19th century goods yard, with two single-storey brick and wood transshipment sheds, with awnings for road vehicles, and a 2-storey brick office block. The former transit shed for iron castings, a steel-framed, corrugated-iron-clad structure, is now the headquarters of the Scottish Railway preservation Society.

J R Hume 1976.
