Field Visit (3 March 1982)

At ND 2160 5897, on a slight rise in a ploughed field, are faint traces of a depression measuring about 40.0m NE-SW by 30.0m transversely; some 15.0m outwith the E arc is a roughly concentric counterscarp up to 0.8m high but reduced and spread by ploughing, suggesting a bank or rim of a mound. However, there is no surface evidence to specify a class of structure, if any.

Visited by OS (J M) 3 March 1982.

Watching Brief (2005)

ND 2172 5916 (centre) A watching brief was undertaken in October 2005 during the initial stages of a proposed housing development near a possible henge at Nipster (ND25NW 16). The area of the two proposed houses, their access roads and septic tank locations were monitored. No features or finds of archaeological interest were identified.

Report lodged with Highland SMR and NMRS.
