(NX 1729 6039) Cairn (NR)
OS 6" map (1957)
A large cairn, reduced to a height of from 2' to 3', and measuring 50' in diameter, lies near the upper end of the second field to the north of the head of the Glen Plantation. An excavation near the circumference on the west seems to indicate the removal of a cist, but the primary interment has probably not been disturbed.
RCAHMS 1912
Generally as described by RCAHMS.
Resurveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (RD) 12 March 1968
This cairn is situated on a low knoll 730m SSE of the summit of Craig Fell. The cairn measures about 15m in diameter by 0.9m in height but it has been severely damaged by forestry ploughing. There is no trace of the 'excavation' from which it was suggested that a cist had been removed.
RCAHMS 1987, visited (SH) 18 June 1986
Scheduled as Craig, cairn.
Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 31 October 2000.
