Field Visit (1977)
(Location cited as NC 575 652). Port Vasgo. A rift, possibly artifically widened and straightened, in the rocky shore, with a crab winch for hauling boats. Nearby are some single-storey storehouses.
J R Hume 1977.
Note (9 August 1999)
Note; from examination of photographs it is likely that the 'storehouses' include dwellings.
Information from RCAHMS (SC) 9th August 1999
Field Visit (31 July 2002)
The storehouse (NC 58447 65020) and at least one unroofed cottage, were noted, and the crab winch at the head of the rock-cut rift (NC 58474 65049), was still in situ on the date of of visit. One recent house has been built to the WSW.
At least six roofed buildings are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6 and 25-inch maps (Sutherland 1878, sheet xvi), at Port-an-fhasgaidh, whilst on the current edition of the OS digital 1:2500 scale shows one roofed with several unroofed.
