Activities

Field Visit (September 1976)

NT 006 504. There are at least twenty cairns situated on almost level ground between two plantations, about 250m SE of Wester Yardhouses. They measure up to 6m in diameter and 0.8m in height, but many have suffered considerable disturbance from the small surface quarries that occupy much of the area (cf NT05SE 3).

RCAHMS 1978, visited September 1976

Field Visit (12 February 1979)

NT05SW 21 006 504.

An area of about 20 hectares of disturbed ground with many turf-covered stony mounds together with a number of boulders and quarry pits. There is nothing to indicate that these mounds are other than field clearance heaps; there is no evidence of lynchets or field banks.
