Archaeology Notes

NS06SE 46 09974 60097.

Aerial photography has recorded a series of cropmarks in a field about 150m NW of Scoulag farmsteading. The features include an oval enclosure (NS 09975 60095), measuring 30m from NW to SE by 23m transversely within a ditch about 2m in breadth, with a gap, 8m in width, on the SW, which probably incorporates an entrance. Also present are modern drains, an L-shaped length of ditch (NS 09888 66011) about 60m W of the enclosure and, 100m NW of that ditch, curvilinear rig-and-furrow (NS 09786 60182).
