There is a prominent standing stone 9ft E of the middle of the E side of cairn NS03SW 10. It is 6ft 10ins high, 3ft 10ins wide and 1ft 3ins to 1ft 9ins thick. The ground at the base of the stone was examined by Balfour in 1908:" 3ft 6ins from its N side, a trench was found scooped out of the hard subsoil. It was 4ins in depth and covered by a stone flag 19ins x 11ins x 1 1/4ins, which had split into three portions. In the trench, there was small quantity of charcoal, mixed with minute fragments of calcined bone" (Balfour 1910).
