Reference (1990)
This site had been identified as a burnt mound by the OS Archaeological Division and was situated on a small, level and very boggy area below the 70m contour. The site first appeared as a crescentic bank, slightly flattened on top, opening to the E. The horns of the crescent were roughy symmetrical with a slight depression in between them. The objectives of the excavation were to establish the form and construction of the mound, to retrieve dating material, and to examine the surrounding area for signs of contemporaneous settlement.
