This standing stone measures 6'10" x 2'6" - 2'8" x 11" 1'6", axis NW. Tradition of 'erection' by a 19th century proprietor's son on the eve of his departure for India.

A more likely version says he whitewashed it during a farewell party. A standing stone as described. The 19th century origin could not be confirmed, but there is no reason to suppose that it is not prehistoric. Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Field Visit (May 1983)
This stone is situated on the N bank of the Allt Cinn-locha about 220m SSE of Lochead and 20m SW of a small circular graveyard. Aligned WNW and ESE, it is 2.05m high and measures 1.1m by 0.35m at the base; there is a distinct step in the ESE side, but otherwise it rises uniformly to a flat top (Campbell and Sandeman 1964).
