These two standing stones, of sandstone, are not more that 4ft high. Two "clerics" are locally said to have been hanged near here.

F Celoria 1959.

Two limestone standing stones 2.4m apart in line ENE-WSW. The west stone is triangular at the base 0.6m by 0.9m by 1.0m and tapers to a pointed top 1.7m. high. The east stone is also triangular at the base measuring 0.8m by 0.8m by 0.7m. It is tilted south at an angle of 45 and is 1.25m high. Part of the stone has broken off along a natural fissure.

Activities

Field Visit (May 1977)

NR 398 648. Immediately S of Knocklearoch farm-buildings there are two standing stones of local limestone, situated 2.4m apart on a line running approximately ENE and WSW. The W stone is triangular at the base, measuring 0.65m by 0.90m by 1.5m and tapers to a pointed top; it leans towards the S but if upright would stand 1.95m high. The E stone is also triangular and measures 0.80m by 0.80m by 0.70m at the base. It, too, is tilted out of the vertical to the S but would be 1.70m high if erect; a pronounced natural fissure has caused part of the stone to break off.
