MY58. Rectangular cairn, 5x2m, with stones set around three sides and earth slightly mounded within. The largest stones are along the narrow end at the NE.

K Branigan 1993; NMRS, MS/595/10.

NL5505 8406

MY59. Rectangular cairn, 5x2m, with stones set around three sides and area within slightly mounded.

K Branigan 1993; NMRS, MS/595/10.

NL5505 8409

MY60. Sub-rectangular structure, possibly a burial site, 5x2m, outlined in stone except for rear side. Slightly mounded earthern interior except for N quarter where peat deflation has reduced the contents. Severe weathering has attacked the N stonework and some has become displaced with deflating peat holes advancing into the structure.

K Branigan 1993; NMRS, MSS. 595/9 and 595/10.

NL5503 8409

MY61. Rectangular cairn, 5x2m, with stones set around three sides, the largest being at the E end. The earth inside is slightly mounded.

K Branigan 1993; NMRS, MS/595/10.

Five peat-stack stands are situated amongst the peat-cuttings on the N of the local summit of Guarsay Mór. The sub-rectangular stands (MING03 100-104), each of which is bounded by a stony bank, are all aligned from NE to SW. One has been built-up at its NE end and measures 6.8m by 2.8m transversely overall (MING03 104, NL 55022 84074). There are extensive areas of turf-stripping and peat-cuttings surrounding the stands. Four stands in this area are identified (see above entries) in Branigan and Foster (2000), but, their locations and descriptions can not be rationalised with those located on the date of visit.
