Archaeology Notes

HY41NE 32.01 47549 19845

The half-circular twin 6-pounder mounting is protected by a canopy supported on concrete columns. Surrounding the gun mounting are the steel rails embedded in concrete to allow for the transport the ammunition to the guns. The observation tower is on two floors, open on the W side, both with concrete canopies.

Orignally armed in May 1940 with a single 12- pounder gun, this was altered to take a twin 6-pounder in March 1941 (PRO WO 192/260).
