NMRS NOTES:

Architect: William Tite, 1848.

Station probably opened 1848 (Scottish Central Railway). Doune branch opened 01/07/1858 (Dunblane, Doune and Callander Railway), closed to passengers 01/11/1965.

(Undated) information in NMRS.

(Location cited as NN 781 010). Dunblane Station, opened 1848 by the Scottish Central Railway. A three-platform through station. The recent removal of awnings from the up-platform building has revealed the original Scottish Central station, with crow-stepped gables. There is an unusual covered lattice-girder footbridge.

J R Hume 1977.

This intermediate station on the Stirling - Perth portion of the Glasgow - Kinnaber Junction 'Strathmore line' of the former Caledonian Rly was also (until 1 November 1965) the junction station for that company's line to Callander, Crianlarich and Oban. It was opened by the Scottish Central Rly on 22 May 1848, and remains in regular passenger use by passenger traffic.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 30 August 2000.
