Scope and Content Dunblane Station, Perthshire This station was originally built by the Scottish Central Railway to a design based on one of its standard patterns. It was later extended in wood, with steel-framed awnings and a notable covered lattice-girder footbridge. This view shows the southbound side of the station from the south east. The original 1848 building is on the right, a crowstepped red brick building with stone dressings, on a T-plan. Originally a simple through station, this became a junction for Callander in 1858 and for Oban in 1880, and the expansion of the station in the later 19th century was due to that status. The scale of the station was reduced c1970. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
