This pier at the end of the S embankment reaching out into the Beauly Firth is clearly marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet iv), on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1907, sheet iv), on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1985) and on the OS Basic Scale raster map (ND).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The available map evidence (OS AIB) indicates that this pier extends from NH c. 64385 46752 to NH c. 64420 46743.

Field Visit (January 2013)

The pier is approximately 35m long, tapering in width from 6m at the shore, to 4m at the seaward end. It is straight and is constructed from reinforced concrete. A walkway leads along the NE side allowing access to a navigation light. The NE face is protected by timber fender formed of round timbers.
