The engines of the PS ‘Clyde’, a Clyde Navigation Trust tug built in 1851 by A and J Inglis, are located on the south bank of the River Clyde 40m downstream from the Renfrew Ferry (NS56NW 93). They are preserved on a fenced stone pedestal as a memorial to their designer Andrew Brown, who later became Provost of Renfrew. They are believed to be the first disconnecting paddle engines made.
