Archaeology Notes

HY 72018 43963.

This single-storeyed, gabled farmstead has an L-shape plan. There is a freestanding barn with a circular horse walk located to the rear. When visited the buildings had been abandoned and some were roofless.

Information from RCAHMS (SS) 19 January 2006.

Activities

Field Visit (1999)

The farmstead at Seater is built over a substantial mound, which is more than likely a settlement or farm mound. It lies over 100m from the coast edge and has been surveyed by RCAHMS. The jetty is now largely destroyed and is visible only as a group of intermittent edge-set stones on the lower foreshore. It can be traced for some 20m extending into the sea and is estimated to have measured between 1.75m and 2m in width.
