Scope and Content House, Seater Farm, Sanday, Orkney Islands Seater is a disused 19th-century steading whose land is now part of the neighbouring farm of Newark. It was last used in the 1960s. All the buildings are of rubble masonry, the large detached threshing barn being of special note. This shows the single-storeyed house from the south. It is now roofless, but originally had a roof of graduated flagstones on A-framed couples. The original house was a two-roomed type which has an extension on each end as well as one to the front which can be seen in this picture. There is a roofless lean-to on the north-east wall. To the north-east of the house is a garden surrounded by a drystone dyke and a ruined pig house. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
