NR92SW 13 c. 92 23.

(Unpublished, but on OS sheet 253/16, trace 3). Three local informants from Corriecravie pointed out two 'graves' at what is believed to have been the site of a great battle, but of which no details are known (see NR92SW 2 ). It is said that the chief of the McAlisters was slain at it and his head cut off, and that the smaller grave contains his body, while his head was buried in the larger or more southerly one. Neither of the graves has been disturbed by ploughing. (Examiner has added "Very uncertain that these objects are graves").

Source: Name Book 1864.

No further information could be obtained regarding either the graves or the site of the alleged battle.

Visited by OS (B S) 12 October 1977.
