(NM 8145 0501) Cairn (NR)

OS 1:10,000 map, (197

There is a very ruinous cairn on Eilean Carnaich, a small tidal inlet. It has a possible kerb to seaward. There is no trace of any cist.

A Graham 1950; M Campbell and M Sandeman 1965.

According to local information, this cairn was in good condition about five years ago, but has lately been robbed for building material. All that now remains is a low, shapeless heap of rubble with no kerbing visible. The cairn material is spread for about 14 metres and the cairn itself now has a maximum height of 1 metre.

Surveyed at 1:2500 scale.

Visited by OS (D W R) 15 October 1971.
