(NJ 1865 3202) Tumulus (NR)

OS 6"map, Banffshire, 2nd ed., (1905)

A large mound of earth and stone.

Name Book 1869.

A turf-covered cairn of stones about 8.5m in diameter and 1.2m maximum height, situated in a wood on the fairly steep southern slopes just below the summit of Doune of Craggan at about 700ft OD. The topographical position and the general appearance of the feature does not suggest a burial cairn.

Resurveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (N K B) 31 August 1966.
