Scope and Content Transverse-section of rigid airship shed, East Fortune, East Lothian The rigid airship shed at East Fortune was built in World War One as part of the strategic network of airship bases thrown up by the Royal Navy to defend the coastline. This shows the structure of one of the n-shaped frames. The shed was built to enclose as much space as possible while being strong enough to withstand the wind and support a deflated airship.
