Scope and Content Redrawn for publication from DC 32343. Plan of Lamb's Knowe, Dumfries and Galloway Roughly aligned on opposing sides of the River White Esk are two long mounds, known as Tom's Knowe and Lamb's Knowe. Originally the mounds may have been part of a bank barrow, an imposing Neolithic ceremonial monument which spanned the valley. On the northern side of the River White Esk a long, narrow 'tail', flanked by an external ditch, runs southward from a broad, rounded terminal mound near the crest of Lamb's Knowe. The 'tail', an earthen bank, is intermittently visible for about 650m. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
