Scope and Content A view from a riverbank on which there are wildflowers, grasses and windswept trees, towards a triple-arched bridge. Turriff is sited on the River Deveron above its confluence with the Idoch Water. The burgh dates from the early 16th century but there is evidence of an early Pictish settlement, where the Celtic St Congan (pronounced 'Cowan') is believed to have built a church on which King Malcolm III (Malcolm Canmore) is said to have built his.
