Scope and Content A railed road curves past a ruined building of palatial proportions and stone construction. A drum tower projects from the wall and survives to wallwalk height. There is a cottage adjacent. A round doorway in the wall leads off the street and further palace buildings can be seen over the top of the ruined outer wall. This is a 16th century reconstruction on top of the 13th century foundations. King Hakon [Haakon] of Norway died in the lower hall.
