Scope and Content A tree and shrub-lined driveway leading up to a substantial castle built in the Gothic style with a square central tower rising above its frontage. A square harled castle with pointed arched windows and round corner towers with battlements and conical roof and corners. Roof with dormer windows carried on projecting corbels. Stone battlemented high tower with large tracery windows in centre. Duniquaich Tower, an 18th century watchtower, is on the top of the hill behind. The castle is the chief seat of the Dukes of Argyll and was rebuilt in the late 18th century with the tower tops and dormer windowed roof added in the late 19th century.
