Scope and Content Loch Faskally owes its origin entirely to the construction of Pitlochry Dam, seen here. The dam is 145 metres in length and has a gross head height of 15 metres. The loch is located behind the dam. The power station built into the dam, and commissioned in 1950, has an installed capacity of 15MW and has a total catchment area of 1,839sq km. By the time the water reaches Pitlochry, it may have already generated electricity at three or four other power stations during its course down the Tummel Valley.
