Scope and Content In the distance on northern shores of Loch Rannoch stands Rannoch power station, in operation since 1930. William Halcrow was the consulting engineer; Balfour Beatty were the engineers and contractors for the building, which is a fusion between the functional and industrial requirements of power generation and a classical modern design. It operates under a head of 156 metres of water brought from Loch Ericht by tunnel and pipeline, seen here. It has a 44.1MW capacity.
