Scope and Content Ben Alder looms above the south banks of Loch Laggan; it is here that Charles reportedly hid in a structure called Cluny's Cage, built for the outlaw chief of the Macpherson clan, and said to comprise a two-storey dwelling built against a rock face. It took its name from the trunks of trees planted in front to provide camouflage.
