Scope and Content Kinlochmoidart - a location on the route south taken by Bonnie Prince Charlie and his followers during the Jacobite Rising of 1745. After landing at Borrodale, Prince Charles Edward Stuart moved to Kinlochmoidart House. MacDonald of Kinlochmoidart was the first to promise support to the Prince. Kinlochmoidart House was later burnt in reprisal after Culloden. The forfeited Kinlochmoidart estate of the Jacobite Donald MacDonald was annexed in 1752, and administered by the Board for the Annexed Estates until 1784. The present house was built in 1883
