Scope and Content Parish Church, Auchtermuchty, Fife The Parish Church was built in 1779-81 by Robert Wilkie, a wright from Dundee. Later additions include the north aisle, added by Stedman Simpson in 1837-8. The two round-headed windows in the south wall (right) bracket the pulpit. The west porch (left) was added in 1870-1. Auchtermuchty, a small royal burgh since 1517, developed into a minor industrial centre after an iron foundry and linen works were built there at the end of the 18th century.
