Scope and Content This image shows the Montrose Basin looking across the Bridge of Dun where the South Esk enters the basin towards Montrose and the North Sea beyond. In the foreground are cropmarks of fluvio-glacial sands and gravels. Remains of rig and furrow are also visible. Bridge of Dun Railway Station sits on the former Caledonian Railway line to Montrose and Aberdeen. Closed as a commercial railway the station is the terminus of the Caledonian Railway (Brechin).
