Scope and Content The east gable of Tarradale House dates from the C18, whereas the two-storey central block, which replaced an earlier structure, dates from the mid-nineteenth century. Originally a Mackenzie (of Seaforth) property, it was bought in 1788 by Dr Kenneth Murchison. In the early years of the 20th century, the existing fabric was modified by Miss Amy Yule (including the addition of balcony, the pitch-pine lined Tower rooms), and the Library, conservatory, walled garden and outhouses added by 1907. Following Miss Yule's death, the house and grounds were eventually acquired by the Department of Geography, University of Aberdeen in 1961 as a Field Centre, and then sold to the present (2020) owner in 2003. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
