Aerial view of Cromarty Bridge, Cromarty Firth, looking N.

SC 1945120

Description Aerial view of Cromarty Bridge, Cromarty Firth, looking N.

Date 8/5/2000

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1945120

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content The Cromarty Bridge opened in 1979, providing a more direct route north for the upgraded A9. At bottom right is Findon Quarry, which dates back to the C18 and there was a pier beside the quarry to facilitate the export of stone and the import of coal and timber. Both have been damaged by the construction of the Cromarty Bridge and the flooded quarry is now hidden by the sewage treatment works and a belt of trees. There are fish traps on either side of the bridge at bottom of picture. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
