Scope and Content The deserted township of Grudie contains between forty and fifty ruined buildings from 0.3m to 1.8m high, and measuring from 5.8m by 3.1m to 32.3m by 3m. Associated with these are numerous dry-stone enclosures, some of which are attached to the ruined buildings, two corn-drying kilns and many old field walls and banks. To S of the settlement, and on the flat plain N of the River Brora are extensive areas of lazy beds and field clearance" [Canmore]. Canmore also states that there were 3 corn drying kilns. There was also a mill and possible smithy. The township was cleared in the early 1820s, but the mill continued in use for longer. The image shows an area to the W of Dalreavoch Lodge. Various enclosures are visible, and there is a longhouse immediately in front of the trapezoidal enclosure. Rig and furrow is widely distributed.
