Scope and Content Erchless Castle on the L of the photo is an early C17 L-plan Tower House, with a Victorian addition on the N side and modernised. It was owned by the Chisholms until the early decades of the C20. In the foreground is the large rubble walled garden built 1814-15, used as fields in this photo, now (202) completely untended. To the left are the stables and steading, built circa 1815, complete with clock tower and later alterations. The Victorian N extension of the castle is used as luxury self-catering accommodation (2020). Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
