Scope and Content In the centre is Torvean quarry, now disused. At the extreme left of the photo is Torvean Fort, scheduled as a motte in 1975, although it is identified in the Atlas of Hillforts of Great Britain as a dun. It sits on the summit of a glacial eschar ridge. The River Ness is at bottom L with the Caledonian Canal between it and the quarry.
