Scope and Content Short three page report on the first of a series of excavations, begun in 1986 in advance of the laying out of a golf course at Westerwood Roman Fort (NS 757773-759774), Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire. The specific aims were to establish the S edge of the Military Way between the W gate of the fort and the point where it enters some woodland 350 m to the W, and to define the N edge of the upcast mound over the same distance. The excavation was carried out by Dr Lawrence Keppie, Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow and it was financed by Walker Homes (Scotland).
