SC 1346669

Description Publication drawing; plan of farmstead at Loss, with detail plan of fireplace A and reconstruction of fireplace B.

Date 2001

Collection Records of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), Edinbu

Catalogue Number SC 1346669

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of GV 005180

Scope and Content The strictly rectangular plan of the steading of Loss clearly sets it apart from the other stone-built farmsteads in the glen as an 'improved' farm. The late 17-century fireplace in the east gable (A) probably graced a parlour. The fireplace in the north wall, which has been reconstructed in perspective with its fallen lintel in place, probably dates from refurbishments to the house carried out in the 1750s.
